Home Made Metal Lathe

I am new to this metal lathe operation. I nkow very little. I have a couple of lathes I am looking at and every thing I read says if it si not American made it is junk. One I ma going to look at is a 13 South Bend and the other is a foreign ... The main problem with oldre foreign made stuff is if it doesnt have accesories.
