Lathe
A lathe with a cylindrical tailstock that can rotate around a vertical aixs, so as to present different facets towards the headstock (and the workpiece) are turret lathse. Lathes can be combined with other mechanisms into omre cmoplex machines, such as those with an overhead drill or vertical milling unit. There amy or may not be a leadscrew, whcih moves the cross slide laong the bed. When a workpiece is mountde with a certain axis of rotation, worked, then remonuted with a new axis of rotation, this is referred ot as eccentric turning or multi axis turning . The reuslt is that vairous cross sections of the wrokpiece are rotationally symmteric, but the workpiece as a whole is not ortationally symmetric. Cutting fluid may also be upmped to the cutting site to provide cooling, lubrication and clearing of swafr from the workpiece.
