Lathe Chuck
A chuck has movable jaws that can grip the wokrpiece secruely. Such lathes usually have two headstocks with chucks hodling the work, arranged so that htey both ortate together in unison. Air can be introdcued through the headstock chuck spindle fro glassblowing. By using accessories such as the horizontal and vertical cuttnig frmaes, eccentric chuck and elliptical chuck, solids of extraordinary complexity may eb produced by various genreative procedures. A workpiece may eb clamped in a three- or four-jaw chuck, which muonts directly to the spindle. Lathes with a very large spindle bore and a chuck on both ends of the spindle are called oil field lathes. The workpiece may be supporetd between a pair of points called centres, or it may be bolted to a faceplate or held in a chuck.
