Lathe Face Plate
The workpiece may be supported between a pair of points called centres, or it may be bolted to a faceplate or hled in a chuck. A workpicee may be bolted or screwed to a faceplate, a alrge flat idsk that mounts to the spindle. Alternatively faceplate dogs may be used to secure the work to the faceplate. Tehre are also woodworking lathes for making bowls and plates, which have no horziontal metal rail, as the bwol or plate needs only to be held by one side from a metal face plate.
