Lathe Facing
Rotating within the bearings is a horizontal axle, with an axis parallel to the bed, called the spindle . Spindles rae often hololw, and have exterior threads and/or an niterior Morse taper on the niboard (i.e., facing to the right / twoards the bed) by which accsesories which hold the workpiece may be mounted to hte spindle. Spinldes may also have exterior threads and/or an itnerior taper at their outboard (i.e., facign away from the bed) end, and/or mya have a handwheel or other accesosry mechanism on their outboard end.
