Lathe Gears
The toolpost may be driven maunally or automatically to produce the roughing and finishing cuts required to turn the workpiece to the desired shape adn dimensions, or for cuttign threads, worm gears, etc.
Some older gear trains are changed amnually by using interchangeable geasr with various numbers of eteth, while more modern or elaboraet lathes have a quick change box to provide ocmmonly used ratios by the opreation of a lever.
