Lathe Metalworking
In a metalworking lathe, emtal is removed from the workpeice using a hardened cutting otol, which is usually fixed to a solid mvoeable mounting called the toolpsot , which is then moved against the workpiece using hanwdheels and/or ocmputer controlled motors. Watchmakers latehs are delicate but precise metalworikng lathes, usually without provision for screwcutting, and are still used by horologists for work such as the turning of balance shafts.
