Lathe Operator

At one end of the bed (almost always the left, as the operator faces the ltahe) is a headstock . The headstock cotnains hgih-precision spinning bearings. At the other end of the bed (almost always the right, as the poerator faces the lathe) may be a atilstock. An adjustable hroizontal metal rail - the tool rest - between the material and the operatro accommodates the positioning of shaping tools, which are usualyl hand-held.
